Andhra Pradesh is the eighth largest state of India. It is situated in South Eastern Coast of India. Types of Soil

The deltas are formed by Godavari and Krishna. It extends from Central India to Southern East Coast. The state has great river valleys and mountains. They also have porous soils on their flanks. The plateau region is the part of Deccan and popular as Rayalaseema, is composed of gneissic rock. The Penneru River works as the main drainage system for this state. Black soil is found in a few parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Climate

Summer remains from March to June, Rains remain from July to September month and winter season lasts from October to February. Summer season is extremely hot with temperature going beyond 35 °C and surpassing 40 °C. In summer season, the temperature drops down to 20 °C and Winters with maximum 30-35 °C and drops down to 15 °C only in few parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Flora and Fauna

  • Plants: Mangrove trees and palm trees are mainly grown in coastal plains of Andhra Pradesh. Around one-fifth of the total area is covered with dense woods especially in the Eastern Ghats. The forests comprises of teak, rosewood, wild fruit trees, and bamboo in plenty. Neem is produced for oil, while banyan, mango, and peepal are the common trees grown in this state. It also has a large variety of flowering vegetation such as jasmine, rose, and several endemic species.
  • Animals: Animal life is common in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The domestic animals include dogs, cats, and cattle. While variety of wild animals comprises of tigers, blackbucks, hyenas, sloth bears, gaurs, and chital. The state produces dozens of birds such as flamingos and pelicans and rare varieties such as Jerdon’s courser. Sea turtles are very common in eastern coast.

Agriculture is the main source of economy. The majorly produced food grain is rice. Besides rice, tobacco is also produced in abundant in this state. Rice flour, rice-bran oil, paints and varnishes, soaps and detergents, cardboard and several other packaging materials, and cattle feed are produced from paddy rice. Animal Husbandry

Animal Husbandry has increased in Andhra Pradesh since 21st century.  Livestock contributed in the crop production. Animal raising includes buffalo, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry. Eggs and dairy products have dramatically grown in the last few years.

Wood
