How to Generate SBI Debit Card PIN by SMS, Call or ATM

When the banking firms didn’t initiated steps towards the digitization of banking functions, most of the banks used post service to send PIN which was hidden under the scratch off panels. This PIN is the password for Debit card which they got already from the previous mail.

After implementation of digital ecosystem and also various reasons of security and PIN misplacement risks, the banks started to send Green PINs to the customers to generate ATM card’s PIN all by themselves.

How to generate sbi debit card pin

Through SMS

Below are the steps which you can apply to generate SBI Green PIN view SMS easily. Send the bellow message from your registered mobile number to get the Green PIN.

PIN 1234 4321 to 567676

*Here 1234 is last four digits of ATM card and 4321 represent last four digits of the bank account number linked with the ATM card.

2. You will now receive an OTP which will be valid for 48 hours. Use it by visiting to any of your nearest SBI ATM and apply the previous steps.

Through SBI Customer Care

You can make a call to any of the SBI customer care number given below to generate your Green PIN.

  1. Toll free: 1800 11 22 11, 1800 425 3800, 08026599990
  2. Further select ‘ATM and Prepaid Card Services’ option
  3. Press ‘1’ to generate your Green PIN.
  4. Now enter your ATM card number and ‘Confirm’
  5. Enter the account number which is linked to your ATM and ‘Confirm’
  6. You will receive an OTP which you will use in any of the SBI ATMs to generate your actual ATM card PIN.

Through SBI ATM

You can visit any of the SBI ATMs with your ATM card and you are good to go.

  1. Insert the ATM card in the ATM machine correctly.
  2. Select the option ‘PIN Generation’
  3. You need to enter your 11 digits account number then click ‘Confirm’.
  4. Now enter your registered mobile number and ‘Confirm’.
  5. By entering the correct details asked you will get a message ‘Your Green PIN will be shortly delivered to your registered mobile number.’
  6. Press ‘Confirm’ to proceed further.

One Time Password (OTP) will then be sent to you which is Green PIN.

  • Now remove and insert your ATM card again to generate the actual PIN by using this Green PIN.
  • Select the option ‘Banking’
  • Choose language Hindi or English according to your preference.
  • Enter the OTP received on your RMN.
  • From ‘Select Transactions’ choose the option ‘PIN Change’
  • Enter 4 digit PIN which you want to use as a password for your ATM and confirm it.
  • ‘Your PIN has been changed successfully’ will be display on the screen.

*This new password is PIN for your ATM now. It can be used for online transactions and cash withdrawal.

Through Net Banking

This procedure can be done at your home desktop because you don’t need to go to SBI ATM in this one.

  1. Go to official SBI net banking site and Log in to your account.
  2. Select ‘e-services>ATM Card Services’ from the main menu.
  3. Select ‘ATM PIN Generation’ from the ATM Card Services page.
  4. Select either ‘Using Profile Password’ or ‘Using One Time Password’
  5. Now choose the associated bank account and ‘Submit’
  6. Click on SBI debit card and click ‘Confirm’
  7. You will be redirected to ‘ATM PIN Generation’ page, here you need to enter any two digits to create a PIN. Enter them and ‘Submit’
  8. You will receive another two digits by SMS to your registered mobile number.
  9. Enter the two digits you have chosen before and two digits which you have received from the SMS. Now click ‘Submit’
  10. A message will appear stating ‘Your ATM PIN has been successfully changed.’
  11. With this new PIN, go to ‘e-services> ATM Card Services> New ATM Card Activation’ to activate your ATM card.

*You can also activate your card by organizing first transaction to any SBI ATM.

You can successfully set the PIN for your SBI ATM card by following steps to any of the above modes. Sending PIN through post mails has their own share of risks and it also increase cost unnecessarily. The idea of Green PIN is safe and secured for the customers and the bank itself. Also going paperless is the best approach to decrease the amount of cutting trees.

Post services can also delay because of the travel time. But this digital option is far more convenient and can be done as soon as you get your hands on the ATM card.
