Government of India launched Digital Life Certificate based on Aadhaar in 2014. This uses the pensioner’s Biometric data and Aadhaar number. Before this the pensioners have to go to pension pay out agencies like banks and post offices.

They can also avail their Life Certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra from the authority they did service for. Banks recently started door to door service to deliver it for the citizens who are unable to visit the branch.

How to Submit Digital Life Certificate?

In an announcement, the pensioners have to submit their Life Certificate to keep receiving pension payments. If the same is not submitted by 30th November, 2019 pensions will not be paid and put under restriction. Submission of the Life Certificate is mandatory every year to continuously receive pensions in your bank account.

Pensioners can visit their pension disbursing agencies to generate their Pramaan ID. It will be provided after submission of pensioner Aadhaar number and biometrics. After that SMS confirmation will be sent to each pensioner including Pramaan ID.

After receiving Pramaan ID, now you can digitally submit your Life Certificate to the online portal https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in You can also use JeevanPramaan app on your Android or iOS devices.  You need to download the certificate in PDF format from the above website by entering your Pramaan ID. The certificate can be send automatically to the authority which send your pension. You don’t need to submit a hard copy to your bank.

Different authorities have different approaches for the procedure to generate pensioners Digital Life Certificate. According to the HDFC Life, “The Video Life Certificate allows the customer to submit their life certificate online, in the form of a video. For this purpose, annuity customers will receive a message along with a link, 90 days before the due date of their life certificate.”

Further said Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary of HDFC Life, Srinivasan Parthasarathy, “It simplifies our existing process wherein for the last five years we already accepted life certificates over e-mail. Submitting the video Life Certificate is convenient and can be done within a matter of a few minutes.”

State Bank of India (SBI) also has the facility for the submission of Digital Life Certificate. The pensioners need to provide their documents like Aadhaar number, mobile number, pension payment order (PPO) number and Account number.
